Release Week!

It's release week here at QKD and hopefully you've taken the whole blog hop starting at the QKD blog here. If not please hop back. You dont want to miss out on all the new stamps we have this month. Off hand I can count... 30 and there's more than that!!! All coming on the market tomorrow!!

This is what I made with one of them. This is an image from my great grandmother, Beverly Cowan. This was drawn in the 1920's when she was a kid. Yes! a kid! She had mad talent!! We have several of her drawings out in stamps and we are adding to them!! We have even had a company copy one of our images and try to play it off as their own! I'm sorry but that don't fly with me! I'm proud to have my great grandmother's images in our collection.. Check it out...

I used the new Circa 1930's papers from Cosmo Cricket for this card. They fit so well with the image. :) The image was watercolor painted and embossed with black ink and clear embossing powder.

I hope you'll join us tomorrow for the stamp release! Have a happy day. Off to Roni's blog you go!

Crafty Card Gallery Christmas Blog Hop

Hello blogging friends and new friends. Thanks for hopping along to my blog. I'm Vicki.. aka Queen Kat of Queen Kat Designs Stamp Co. I'm here with a fun card I made with some new stamps that are being released today at Queen Kat Designs!
When I heard about the blog hop I had to use this gingerbread man for my card. He's so cute! I used the new K & Co. Patterned paper for this card and some candy cane ribbon I have had for a few years. I colored my "man" with my Tombow markers (I love them!) and added stickles to his buttons and Glossy Accents to this trim, eyes and lolipop.

I hope you've enjoyed my creation. Please hop over to Jamie Fitzgerald's Blog

Happy Holidays!

It's that time!

Why hello there blog friends! Today I have a pretty large project to share with you for my part of the blog hop. This is an easy way to create a fun mantle piece or book shelf decoration for Christmas. Or any holiday or theme for that matter. This is my big project for the year, we really aren't celebrating Christmas this year at my house but I wanted to make something new for this year.
So.. I went to the $1 store and scored these awesome silver frames!! I brought them home took the glass out and threw it away.. I lined the inside of the frame with red crushed velvet. To do this I just cut a piece of chipboard that fit the frame and wrapped the fabric over all 4 edges and taped it down with scotch tape then put the back of the frame on!
Next, I free hand drew the letters on some cheap chipboard I have laying around and cute them out. I chose some SEI Christmas paper I believe it's from the Alpine Frost collection from last year. *yes I use paper that's from past seasons, don't hate. :) *
Then... I got out all the Christmas stamps from this year from QKD and went to town. I stamped some of the letters, I stamped the deer above.. It's a grungeboard deer that comes in a holiday pack from Timmy. I also stamped the grungeboard "25" below. both the deer and the 25 have been glazed over with clear crystal lacquer.
for the top of the "T" above, I used some fake snow that I found on clearance at a craft store. It's just white styrofoam circles in a white glue/paint paste. I believe it's made by Delta. The white flowers are from Michael's clearance they are paper. :) I have more and I plan to ink those up! I also get my poinsettas from the $1 store! I layer them with primas and other flowers too. This one has a rhinestone brad in the middle.
To finish the frames off, I used some prima stars, flowers, glitter, clear lacquer rhinestones and other fun things. This is a project where you just let your mind go wild. It's really fun to start with something blank like a frame and go from there.

Now I have a winner to announce!! The winner from my blog candy from the Queen Kat Designs 4th birthday is.... Alex. She guessed Kondona as the stamp I used and she's correct!! Congrats Alex, I will pop the prize in the mail as soon as I can dig out of the snow.

Please visit my friend, Roni's blog next for some more inspiration.

Happy stamping!

Dress up your leaves

Holiday Greetings bloggers!! I've got a fun video and technique to share with you. I am running out of prima leaves... The pretty ones that have been glazed with clear, gold and glitter... And of course the lame stores around here don't carry them so I came up with some fun combinations to dress up my plain leaves I have in my stash! So if you're like me and like to bling things up, get down and dirty, then this is for you. Your guarenteed sticky, dirty and glittered fingers by the end of your play time!

This photo is of the last 3 prima leaves I have in my possession!!
This photo is the final product of leaves I got yesterday with my play time. I'm really liking mine better than the Prima's now that they are all 100% dry... Maybe I'm just partial..
This is a card I made with Santa's Helper.. The new Amy Brown stamp from QKD that just came out today!! He's soooo adorable!!!

Go.. Decorate some leaves.... Stamp a card out... and have fun!!

Happy Turkey Day!

Welcome to this weeks blog hop! I had a lot of fun with today's inspiration piece! Shannon always finds the most amazing photos for us to gain inspiration from!

Now tell me, isn't that just scrumptious?? Well, here's what I took from the inspiration.. I mostly stuck with the colors from the photo and not flowers, lol. I used the new Turkey stamp set from QKD that was designed by Shannon Rene at Lolli Pop Labs. For the flower, I took apart a huge rose I got at the $1 store and layered 2 of the flowers together. I used crystal lacquer to add polka dots to it and then I went around the egdes with rock candy stickles. It looks just like frost. I also added a dot of crystal lacquer to the eyes of mr. turkey. they pop right off the card.

Thanks for visiting! I'll be back next week with another fun hop project! this one's a real doozy!! Don't miss it. now off to the store for some shoppin!!

Take care and stay warm!

Amy Brown Stamp Release

Welcome to this stop on the blog hop!! I'm excited to share the new Butterfly Elf stamp with you today.

I made this birthday card using some pretty "nature" themed papers from Flair Designs. This was a fun "Elf" to color. I just had to give her purple hair, I think she screamed for it. :) On the spots on her wings, I used some black puff paint I had. They are really shiny in person. I colored the image with prisma pencils and blended them with gamsol.

I can't wait to work with all of the other fairies in this release! Please visit my good friend Wynneth as your next stop on our mini hop today. She's got something very special to show you!!

Until next time.. Happy creating!

Moosey Christmas to you

I'm Baaaaaack! Greetings to you bloggers. It's been an eventful week. The QKD laser machine went down a few times and I'm about ready to smash it in gazillion pieces. Anywhooo.... I went to a baby shower for one of my very best friends. Good times!! I'm here for the QKD blog hop! Did you know we only have 7 more QKD blog hops left? Yep that's right. You're hearing it here first! In January we will no longer have these weekly hops. We are switching to weekly/monthly contests! Oh it's going to be so much fun. The whole Royal Court is on board and excited about the change.

So.. Here we are with the 8th to last blog hop... and it's a Sketch challenge presented by Shannon.. this is the sketch we were to use:
This is the card I made. I used the new Moosey Christmas stamp set designed by my friend, Shannon Rene Justice at Lolli Pop Lab Studios. I'm having so much fun with her stamps!
It's pretty self explanitory as to how I made it.. but I'll tell you that the big gold "Merry" is some gold rub ons. I have no clue where they came from... oh wait I take that back!! they were in a pack of rub ons I found at DCWV's warehouse sale last spring. And you may notice a little shimmer on the "fur" of the image. I used my puffy fabric paint for it. It's actually pearl, very fun for this little guy. I added some black enamel for his eyes and buttons.

I hope you've enjoyed my stop on the hop this week! Please come back next week. Now you're off to Roni's blog for her stunning piece of art!

Til next time.. Happy Stampin

It's new stamp day!

Hello again bloggers! Wow 2 days in a ROW? That's got to be a record for me!! lol!

I'm here with some new stamps from QKD today!! They are from our new stamp designer, Valarie Wade. Yeah, you may have seen her at other stores, but we have her now and the designs she's sending me are just as cute as a button!!

Here's a card I made with the Christmas Kitties stamp set. This little kitty makes me wanna snuggle with my zoo of cats. :) She's so cute and fuzzy. I used my tombow markers to color her up and I'm kinda happy with the way she turned out. I'm not a pro at coloring with markers by any means but I think it's cute. :) I used white floc on her hat brim and poof. and then some tan flock on her tail.

I busted out my lil Jamone sewing machine for this card, that thing is soooooo noisey!! If I'd have known it I wouldn't have bought it but it is a little bit more portable than my trusty Singer. I love sewing on cards. I dont know why I dont do it more. I used some nestibility scalloped circes and then pierced some holes in the scallops with my paper piercer. Added some stickles to the "envelope flap" and viola it was done!

Come over and check out the rest of the new stamps!! We have kicked off the holiday crafting at QKD, you can too!

Happy Stamping!

New Stampies!!

Hi bloggers!!

It's so good to be back in action and I'm happy to announce that I'll be here every week at least this month with a blog post!! I promise!!!! If I'm not I'll have to just delete my blog. lol

Today I'm elated to be on the Queen Kat Designs blog hop! I have a new stamp from Shannon Rene' at Lolli Pop Lab Studios here at QKD! It's called the 3 Kings. And it's super cute! Shannon you are my idol today!! these cutie pies are so fun to stamp with.

First let me share the sketch that I was challenged to use this week by my very good friend, Shannon Hawakins.. who BTW just got married.. Congrats girly!
This is the brightest Christmas card I think I've ever made! I got this pack of paper from Hobby Lobby like 5 years ago and haven't really used it much and I just thought it looked fun with the penguins!
I used my new IRock thingy from... ok so the name of the company escapes me at the moment! I have to say I wasn't sure I'd like it but I'm a total gadget head and have to have the latest in handheld tools. :) The stones are expensive but they are nice to work with and very clean!! no messy glue.

Anywho... what do you think of the penguins??? Let me know and I'll draw for a winner of 1 at the end of the week. The stamp will be available for purchase tomorrow at the QKD store.

Take care and please visit Roni Johnson next on our amazing blog hop!!

Happy Stamping!! And GO VOTE!!! Your vote counts!
